About Me

Welcome to therapy! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington (#LH00010659) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oregon (#C1902).

My style is down-to-earth, flexible, and sensitive.

I graduated from University of Washington with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1998 and then from Western Seminary with a Master’s degree in counseling in 2003. After passing the national exam in 2006, I became licensed in both Washington and Oregon.

I work with children/parents, teens, men, women, and couples. Areas of concentration include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Eating disorders (including binge-eating & emotional eating)
  • Self-injury (cutting, burning, etc.)
  • Abuse recovery
  • Attachment/adoption/reactive attachment disorder
  • Challenging children
  • Frustrating relationships
  • Divorce recovery
  • Spiritual concerns

I am trained to utilize talk, play, art, and sand-tray therapy. We will use the form of therapy that you feel the most comfortable with.

Though you will have your own unique counseling experience, there are some similarities in the counseling process:

  • Treatment goals - both you and I will work together to form and then reach your therapy goals.
  • You are not alone - You may be sad, confused, and overwhelmed, but you do not have to go through it alone. As humans, we tend to heal best in relationships with others. Sometimes, NOT handling it alone is just what helps you make the changes that you want.
  • Homework - Counseling is only 45-50 minutes out of your week. In order to make treatment more effective, I may invite you to complete counseling homework such as: books to read, journaling assignments, etc. They are optional and not graded! You can take or leave whatever you like from our session times together.
  • Well-rounded approach - Often, many factors contribute to you seeking therapy at this time. I encourage utilizing all resources available and working as a team with other providers (primary care physicians, school counselors, psychiatrists, naturopaths, etc)

I look forward to working with you…
